‘Now that the sun hath veil’d his light’
The Story of Jephte
Saturday 16 November, c. 6:55 – 7:40pm
The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs
A short musical meditation on sacrifice, traversing Marian chant and motets by Lassus and Josquin, culminating in Carissimi’s heart-rending setting of ‘Jepthe’ with its memorable final chorus ‘Plorate Filii Israel’. A twilight offering to sooth your soul and “bid the world goodnight”, in the tranquil setting and beautiful acoustic of Our Lady of The Assumption and the English Martyrs, Hills Rd, Cambridge.
The concert will commence as soon as Mass has finished, please do stay on after the service. Entrance is FREE and any offered donations will be taken in support of the OLEM’s Choral and Organ Music Trust. This is a first chance for many to hear OLEM’s wonderful new chamber organ in situ.
